Coy Amick

Julian-Coy William Amick, 96, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Clapp's Nursing Home. He was a native of Guilford County and the husband of the late Wanda Ingold Amick. He was the son of the late Frederick Lafayette and Martha Jones Amick.
Coy retired after 20 years with Sears and Roebuck. He was a member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ where he served for many years as an usher. Coy enjoyed farming and gardening and was an avid Nascar fan. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Slaughter and husband, Ronald of Whitsett and Sharon Lanning and husband, Steve of Salisbury; son, Jeff Amick of Julian; grandchildren, Jonathan (Laurell) Slaughter and Christopher (Lindsey) Slaughter; great grandchildren, Greta, Ruby, Ryan and Lily Slaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sisters, Ellen UpChurch and Myrtle Lowe; brothers, Marvin and Lewis Amick.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Clapp's Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care for Coy.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00am at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ by Rev. Kristin Gerner Vaughn and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of his daughter, Nancy Slaughter.
