Cora Atkins

Burlington, NC Cora Childress Atkins, age 94, formerly of The Oaks of Burlington, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Hospice and Palliative Care House in Kannapolis. She was the wife of the late Rufus Lee Atkins, and was born in 1913 in Surry County to the late Ed and Piney Childress. Cora was a member of Osceola Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother, Foley Childress, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Jimmy and Billy Atkins. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Osceola Baptist Church by Rev. Randall Shaw and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
