Colleen Martin

Mrs. Colleen Woods Ross Martin, 83, a resident of the Village of Brookwood, went to Heaven to be with our Lord on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at her home after several months of failing health. Born in Orange County, she was the daughter of the late Claude C. Woods and the late Cleo Frederick Woods Barringer and was formerly married to the late James H. "Bud" Ross, who died in 1975, and was currently married to Vance B. Martin, who survives. Mrs. Martin retired from Alamance Regional Medical Center after 30 years of dedicated and compassionate service to her patients as a registered nurse. She then served as the student nurse with Elon University for about a year. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was formerly very active in the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband of the home; and was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother to her daughter, Susan Ross Richardson and her husband, Michael, of Charlotte; four sons, James H. Ross and his wife, Darolyn, of Beverly Hills, CA, Stephen M. Ross and his wife, Tammy, of Burlington, David S. Ross and his wife, Betty, of Elon and Phillip B. Ross and his wife, Cynthia, of Burlington; ten grandchildren, Nicolle Cundiff and her husband, David, Leigh R. Forehand and her husband, Joe, Stephanie R. Williams and her husband, Britton, Ashlyn Ross, Lindsay Ross, Lauren Ross, Matthew Ross, Sarah Ross, Ian Richardson and Kristyn Richardson; and four great grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 Friday, June 6, 2008 at Westminster Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Powell Sykes. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 6-8 Thursday evening and at other times at the home of her son, Stephen Ross, 1314 McCuiston Dr., Burlington.
