Burlington - Clyde Thomas Moody, 83, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 6, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born in Chatham County on June 8, 1934 to the late Willis and Marie Elkins Moody and was the husband of 17 years to Betty Allred Moody of the home.
He was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church for over 60 years where he served as Deacon, Board of Trustees, Sunday School Secretary and the Building and Grounds Committee. Clyde made his career in textiles with Burlington Industries, working at the Mayfair Plant and WestPoint Pepperell and JP Stevens. He enjoyed spending time gardening, fishing, feeding catfish at his ponds, boating and watching wrestling.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; daughter, June Moody Long (Larry); sons, Ricky Moody (Jodi) and Ronnie Moody (Pam); grandchildren, Matthew Long (Leslie), Megan Long Patton (Vance), Chris Moody (Nellary), Dustin Moody and Addie Moody; great grandchildren, Grayson, Porter and Blake Long, Branch, Norris and Banks Moody and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Grace Brewer Moody who died in 1998; one week old twin brother, Coy Moody; brothers, Willis Moody, Edison Moody, Marley Moody, Charlie Moody and Reid Moody; sisters, Irene Murphy and Athelene Perry.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00pm on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Glencoe Baptist Church by Pastor Darrell Massey with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
