Clyde Ray Vance, 74 passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023 at his home. He was born on April 20, 1949 to the late Clyde Coolidge Vance and Hilda Blanche Shoffner Vance and was the loving husband to Diane S. Vance of 58 years of the home.
His friends and family rarely referred to him as Clyde, to most he was affectionately “Butch” or “Fat Cat”. These nicknames were fitting given his large frame, perfect for a man with a heart larger than he was. He was truly larger than life. He never met a stranger, would help anyone in need and genuinely loved by all that knew him. He enjoyed playing golf and watching football. He loved Beach Music, Motown and shagging, especially with a cold beer in his hand. He loved everything with such great passion but he loved nothing more than his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and will be missed by all who knew and love him.
Those that will love and miss him every day include his wife, Dianne Vance of Graham. His son, Chris Vance and his wife Kim of Mebane. His daughter, Jennifer Vance and husband Kevin of Graham. His daughter, Michelle Vance of Graham. His 5 grandchildren, Justin Vance, Dr. Emily Vance, Kristopher “Bubba” Richmond, Jayden “JJ” Richmond and Skylar Poole were his pride and joy. His sisters’ Diane Allen, Jody McVey, Jerri Vance and his brother J.B. Vance and his wife Jeanne Vance. And many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Butch. He was preceded in death and welcomed into Heaven by his sister, Kay Hester.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, May 11, 2023 at his home for family and friends.
Memorials may be made to Authoracare Collective Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
