Clifton Underwood

Clifton Porter Underwood, 85, of 3011 County Farm Rd., died Monday, July 24, 2006 at the Hospice Home after several years of failing health. A native of Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Zack L. Underwood and the late Nannie Kelley Underwood and was married to Mrs. Margie Loriane Wilson Underwood, who survives, for over 59 years. Mr. Underwood retired from Cone Mills Minneola Plant after many years of service and was an U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII. He was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church and he was a Mason with Tabasco Lodge #271. Mr. Underwood is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter, Judy U. Smith and her husband, Billy, of Snow Camp; a son, Clifton Edward Eddie Underwood and his wife, Ann, of Burlington; three grandchildren; a step grandchild; two great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Marlette; half sister, Alma Spivy; and two half brothers, Jack Underwood and Edwin Brady. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. David Greene and the Rev. Larry Lamberth. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Gibsonville United Methodist Church, P.O.
