BURLINGTON- Our beloved Clifton Peachy Shelton, 95, entered into his Father's heavenly home on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Hospice Home. He was born on January 18, 1914 to the late Thomas Averett and the late Lillian Motley Shelton. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, a World War II U.S. Army veteran that served in the European Theatre, a farmer, retired from Burlington Industries after thirty seven years service and was a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church. Mr. Shelton was predeceased by his wife, Iva Oakes Shelton, and is survived by their children, Mary Frances Glosson and her late husband, William Dale of Burlington and her children, Shannon and Richie, Ann Bird and husband, Rev. Timothy E., of Glade Spring, VA and their children, Amanda, Timothy and Sarah, Amy Massengill of Gibsonville and her children, Erin and Emily, Faye Morton and husband, Gerald K., of Greensboro and their children, Thomas and Katie and Jaye Shelton and wife, Gay, of Denton and their children, Kivett, Daniel, Alyssa, Caleb and Matthew. He was predeceased by his second wife, Kathryn Troup Shelton, and is survived by her children, Bruce Troup and wife, Betty, and their son, Ricky, Mike Troup and wife, Paulette, and their son, Chris, all of Burlington and Renee Matthews and husband, Bob, and children, Melissa and Michael, of Glen Allen, VA; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jones and Eva Higgins; two brothers, James Shelton and Calvin Shelton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Shelton was predeceased by three sisters, Gladys McDowell, Sarah Durham and Rosa Lee Miller and two brothers, T. A. Shelton and Grover Shelton. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Ben Williams, Rev. Timothy E. Bird, and Rev. Larry Lamberth. The committal service and interment will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 PM on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
