Mrs. Clarice Long Durham, age 101, currently of Raleigh, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Lee Longterm Care Facility after several months of failing health. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Long and the late Eva Mae Mitchell Long and was married to the late Tom Wesley Durham, who died in 1975. She was retired from Tower Hosiery Mills and was the oldest living member of First United Methodist Church of Elon. Mrs. Durham is survived by her son, David Michael Durham and his wife, Virginia, of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Patrice Parker, Kyle Durham, Barry Durham, Candace Gentry and Rebecca Barrett; thirteen great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren; and a brother, John Byron Long and his wife, Helen, of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Gerald Rae Durham; granddaughter, Karen Roman; grandson, John Michael Durham; sisters, Ruby Turnage, Doris Durham, Annie Maude Thomas, Helen Staley and Jimmie Hensley; and brothers, Vernon Long and Burton Long. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of Elon by Rev. Terry Huffines. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 - 2:45 PM Wednesday at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Elon, 1630 Westbrook Ave. Elon, NC 27244.
