Gibsonville, NC Clarence Morgan Norris, Jr. age 85 went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 15, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of 64 years to Bernelle Griffin Norris, the love of his life whom he married in 1949. Clarence was born on February 23, 1927 in Branchville, South Carolina to the late Clarence Morgan Norris, Sr. and the late Pearl Berry Norris. He graduated from Branchville High School as valedictorian of his class in 1944. He was employed with Southern Bell Telephone Company until his health failed and he also was an active member of the Burlington Telephone Pioneers. Clarence was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in McLeansville and he enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He loved college basketball, Nascar and cooking. He enjoyed crocheting and made things to give to family and friends. Clarence was an inspiration to many during his lifetime and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Bernelle Griffin Norris of the home; daughter, Beryl Anne Mayberry of Whitsett and a son, Ken Norris and wife, Lynn of Gibsonville; granddaughters, Andria Martin and husband, David and Christy Mayberry both of Greensboro; grandson, Neil Mayberry of Greensboro and great grandchildren, Alexis Mayberry, Neil Mayberry and Allie Martin; brothers, Johnny Norris of Branchville, SC, Tommy Norris of Jacksonville, Florida; twin brother, Clifford Norris of Jacksonville, Florida and Mike Norris and wife, Jane of St. George, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl Norris. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tim Stevens and the burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5-7 pm and other times at the home.
