Christy May

Burlington, NC Christy McGowan May, 62, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of 45 years to Rickey Dale May who survives. Christy was a substitute teacher for 19 years at Southern Alamance Middle School. She loved children and spending time with her family. Christy enjoyed crafts and listening to beach music especially "Chairman of the Board". Survivors include her husband, Rickey Dale May of the home; daughter, Gwynn May Lewis-Dail and her husband, Greg of Liberty; son, Todd May and his wife, JJ of Burlington and Marshall Russell of Emerald Isle; grandchildren, Christa May of Burlington, Hunter Lewis of Liberty, Yates May and Jack May both of Burlington and Kamryn Russell of Emerald Isle and her sister, Jo Ann Robinson of Elon. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Roy McGowan and Clara Mae Allred McGowan. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Brian DeHart and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
