Christy Moore Mathewson

Christy Moore Mathewson, 49 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 26, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Rockingham county and the daughter of the late Ralph Cecil Moore and Shirley Loraine Stone Moore. She was the wife of 15 years to Pearse LeBaron “Matt” Mathewson, III who survives.

 Christy was employed for many years as an insurance Consultant. Her and her husband, Matt owned and operated 1776 Smoke House Catering, Christy was an excellent cook and baker, supplying the entries for the business. She enjoyed country music, contemporary Christian and classic rock from the 80’s and 90’s especially the group “Journey”. Christy enjoyed the outdoors, camping,fishing and trips to the mountains. She especially enjoyed family time and being at home. She had a servant’s heart and was a foster parent providing a stable homelife for many children.

 She is survived by her husband, Matt Mathewson of the home; daughters, Amanda Danielle Decker of the home and Hannah Allene Mathewson of Burlington; her son, Nathaniel Keith Mathewson and his wife, Emily of Winterville, NC; sisters, Angela Blackstock and her husband, Dwight of Reidsville, Pamela Moore of Reidsville and Tiffany Wicker and husband, Phillip of Reidsville; brother, James Robert Stone and wife, Heather of Summerfield, NC; numerous nieces and nephews; her birth mother, Ronda Apple Drive and her husband, Gordan of Thomasville; mother-in-law, Elaine Mathewson of Elon; brothers-in-law, Charles D. Mathewson and wife, Mallory of Kings Mountain, NC and John F. Mathewson and wife, Jenn of Burlington and her canine companion, “Simba”. 

 A gathering to celebrate Christy’s life on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 5-7pm, at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory in Burlington, North Carolina.
