Christopher Dawkins

Mebane-Christopher Thomas "Chris" Dawkins, 26, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 9, 2017. He was the son of James "Jim" Crafton Dawkins and Anita Christopher Dawkins.
Chris was a 2009 graduate of Eastern Alamance High School and attended Alamance Community College. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church. Chris was diagnosed with cancer when he was 17 and fought it courageously until it went into remission. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time in the outdoors with nature. Chris had a deep love for his family and friends and will greatly be missed.
Survivors include his parents; sister, Allison Dawkins Speicher and husband, Jason and a niece, Hadleigh Speicher. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sonny and Kenny Dawkins; paternal grandparents, Crafton and Pearl Dawkins and maternal grandparents, C.B. and Peggy Christopher and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:30-12:45 pm prior to the service and there will be a reception following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Duke Cancer Institute, 710 W. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701.
