Christine Byrd

Burlington-Christine Parker Byrd, age 88 passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at her residence. She was a native of Sampson County and the wife of the late Arthur Stanton "Stan" Byrd, Sr. Christine was a 1943 graduate of Salemburg High School in Salemburg, NC and a graduate of Campbell College in Buies Creek, NC. She was employed with the NC State Board of Health and later with Burlington Industries, Mayfair plant. Christine was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church and the ARC of Alamance County. She was also a past member of The Green Thumb Garden Club, and the Candlewick Extension Homemakers Club. Christine was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren, especially to her son, Art.. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Sue Byrd Reardon and husband, John of Burlington and a son, Arthur "Art" Stanton Byrd, Jr. of Graham; grandchildren, Brittney Reardon Coleman and husband, Jonathan of Concord, Katherine Ryan Reardon of New York City and Maggie Reardon and her fiance Matthew Nobles of Charlotte; great grandchildren, Jackson Coleman and James Coleman; brothers, Winfred Parker and wife, Lila and Ernest Parker both of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Paul Eugene and Beulah Honeycutt Parker and sisters, Evelyn Parker and Anna Jane Sears and her brothers, Fulton, Charlie, Otis and Carlos Parker. The family would like to thank the wonderful VIP staff of The Village at Brookwood, Samantha Chance, Charlie Foster, DeWayne Poag, Chelsea Terrell, Lana Barber and Lori Wade. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 11:00 am at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ray Wittman and Rev. Andy Wood and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:45-10:45 am prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter.
