Chester Cox

Burlington, NC Chester Eugene "Rabbit" Cox, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Randolph County and the husband of the late Mary Catherine Harris Cox. Chester was a retired farmer growing tobacco and raising livestock. He attended West Burlington Church of God and served in the US Army during peacetime. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Darlene Hinshaw and her husband, Randy of Graham; sons, Gary Dean Cox and Danny Clay Cox both of the home; Troy Cox and his wife Corrina of Elon, Allen Cox and his wife, Betty of Burlington and Jerry Wayne Cox and his wife, Linda of Elon; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; sister, Melinda Jefferson of Burlington and brother, William Cox and his wife, Sarah of Burlington and Henry Cox also of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his wife, son, Dwight Edward Cox and parents, Oscar and Augusta Lee Jones Cox. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Olin Tatum and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 pm at the funeral home prior to the service and other times at the home of Allen Cox on Claude Simpson Road in Burlington.
