Charlotte Shuford

Elon, NC Charlotte Markham Shuford, age 91 of 202 Arbor Drive went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the Home Place of Burlington. She was a native of Durham County and the wife of the late Tolly Martin Shuford. Charlotte was a graduate of Duke University and she retired as a High School teacher after teaching both English and French for over 30 years. She was a member of the Boyce Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Kings Mountian where she taught Sunday School and was also a member of the Rosa Lipford Circle. Charlotte was a member of the Horne and Garden Club of Kings Mountain and the Daughters of The American Revolution. She was a loving and devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Buz Shuford and his wife, Joyce of Elon; grandchildren, Brian Patrick Shuford, Sr. and his wife, Karen of Burliington and Tracy Ann Shuford of Greensboro; great grandchildren, Brian Patrick Shuford, Jr. and Alyson Jasiak; brother, Charles B. Markham of Durham. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Billy Shuford; parents, Charles E. and Sadie Hackney Markham; sisters, Eleanor and Sarah Markham. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Redding. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain, NC.
