Charlotte Godfrey Hatchel

Mrs. Charlotte Godfrey Hatchel, 86, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at AuthoraCare Hospice Home.

Charlotte was born November 5, 1935 in Alamance County to the late Thomas Andrew Godfrey and Stella Jane Hurt Godfrey.  She retired from Lemco Hosiery Mill and then began a second career at Cracker Barrel, where with her big personality and love of people she made many friends and always made people feel welcome.  Her friends and family were extremely important to her and she loved to cook for them and spent as much time with them as possible.  Her loving and funny personality will be deeply missed.  In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Allen Hatchel, sister, Christine Sharpe, and brothers, Edwin Godfrey and Dr. Donald Godfrey.

Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Vickie Brooks, Robin Welborn and husband Rick, and Terry Coleman; son, Timothy “Tim” Hatchel and wife Cindy; 8 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday, October 3, 2022 at 2 PM at Alamance Memorial Park.
