The man. The myth. The legend. Men wanted to be like him and women wanted to be with him. On Tuesday, September 22, 2020 Jeremy Deaton passed away doing what he loved, riding in the open air. Jeremy “lived [his] life a quarter mile at a time. In those 10 seconds or less, [he] was free.”
Jeremy was the life of the party. His smile and laughter lit up a room, which was only matched by his capacity to love. His heart was huge and he would give you anything you needed, including the shirt off his back. If you knew Jeremy, even for a moment, you knew his deep passion for his family, friends and anything with a steering wheel, even though that never stopped him. He was a car enthusiast who was always up to trade for something louder, faster and better. Jeremy’s passion car of the month was a 2012 Mustang GT – the DMV encouraged him to get a dealers tag, which he most likely considered.
Jeremy graduated from Western Alamance High School in 2013 and worked for McGee Brothers with his father as a brick mason for five years. Following very closely in his father’s footsteps, he was an extremely talented and full of potential brick mason. He was also a member of Team Wickedly Boosted car community.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington, NC. The service will also be lived streamed. A car show will follow the service – starting at Lowe Funereal Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) here. For a memorial donation, please include Jeremy Deaton in the letter, as well as the names and addresses of the people whom you would like NIMH to acknowledge for the memorial donation. Donations can also be made to the Epilepsy Alliance of North Carolina here.
Jeremy is survived by his parents, Charles and Donna Deaton; sister, Jordan Deaton; grandparents, James and Phyllis Deaton, Clifford and Young Underwood; aunts and uncles, Jerry and Machelle Underwood, Dan and Pamela Underwood, Cynthia Sloff, Richard and Shawna Underwood, Paul and Heather Underwood, Randy and Erica Deaton, Eric and Candy Stepp; and 18 cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Jean Underwood.
