Charles White

Charles "Charlie" Murke White, 81, of 926 Chatfield Ct., Apt. B, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Hospice Home of High Point after several weeks of failing health. A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late George Dewey White and the late Nettie Beatrice White White and was married to Mary Ruth Taylor White, who survives. He was an U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII, and was retired from A.T. & T. after 28 years of service. He was a member of Deep River Church of Christ in High Point and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. White is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Toni and Harry Esling of Myrtle Beach, SC and Lisa and Perry Nichols of Elon; two sons, C. Craig White and his wife, Susan, of Elon and Sterling White of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Matthew Bennett, Sarah White, Katie White, Victoria White, Chandler White, Alexandria White and Gracie White; three step daughters and their husbands, Maria and Andrew Merritt, Angie and Mike Casstevens and Susie and Tom Branch; six step grandchildren, Chris Merritt, Mac Casstevens, Tiffany Merritt, Ricky Casstevens, David Merritt and Elizabeth Branch; and three sisters and their husbands, Virginia "Peggy" and C.B. Brown, Jean and Maurice May and Shirley and Wade Salmon, all of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patsy "Pat" Horne. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Evangelist David Galloway. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice Home of High Point, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
