Burlington - Charles "Ben" Thompson, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday at his home. He was born December 22, 1922 in Alamance County to the late Julius Delancey and Bessie Mansfield Thompson. He was the husband of the late Audrey Pickett Thompson who passed away in 2004. Ben had retired from Duke Power and was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII.
Survivors include his daughter Jo Ann "Jody" Thompson and husband, Karl J. Hoyt, Jr. of Burlington; a son, John Thompson and wife, Sonya of Walker Town and a daughter-in-law, Betty Thompson of Austin, Arkansas; ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews . He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and son Larry Thompson.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 11:00 am at Pine Hill Cemetery by Rev. Rodney Murray. Military honors will follow at the graveside by the US Army, 82nd airborne division.
The body of Mr. Thompson will be available for viewing from 1-6 pm on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and the family will receive friends at the home.
