Charles Robert Southard

Charles Robert Southard, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at ARMC surrounded by his family. He was born on February 21, 1944 to the late Robert Ernest Southard, Jr. and Virginia Mae Harbinson Southard. He was the husband of the late Beverly Ann Caldwell Southard who died in 2002.

Charles retired as a Chemist from Burlington Chemical Company and attended St. Marks Church for many years. He received his Master’s Degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University and was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Charles enjoyed family trips to the beach, fishing, listening to Billy Joel, nascar racing and he was a Corvette enthusiast. His greatest joy was keeping up with his grandchildren and going to their sporting events. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Hensley and husband, Robbie, Katherine Conner and fiancé, Ted Grosse and Pamela Southard all of Burlington; grandchildren, Alex Conner and wife, Mikayla, Chloe Conner, Braxton Conner, Skylar Southard, Evan Hensley, Logan Hensley and Kaleb Breen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, James Aubrey Southard. A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 4 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service in the foyer of the chapel and at the home of Jennifer Hensley on Huffines Drive in Burlington.
