Burlington – Charles Ervell Parker, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Alamance Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born on May 18, 1946 in Alamance County to the late Elton Parker and Ida Lee Mebane Parker. Charles was the husband of 25 years to Lynn Hogan Parker of the home.
He retired after 35 years with UPS as a truck driver. Charles attended Northside Fellowship and was a former member of Northside Baptist church where he was an ordained deacon, usher, and served on the building and grounds, personal and hospitality committees to name a few. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan; enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was a member of the Newcomer's Motorcycle Club where he was currently their treasurer and was the club past president. Charles enjoyed riding his motorcycle on the Newcomer's annual week trip, going to the bike rallies and riding cross country with the Harley riders. He loved to work and tinker on motors and enjoyed spending time at Sunset Beach.
Survivors other than his wife, Lynn include his son, Tommy Elton Parker; a daughter, Koronda Lee Parker; grandchildren, Channell Jeffries Thompson and husband Maurice, LeVan Jeffries, Terrius Parker and Jarrell Parker; 21 great grandchildren; a sister, Janie White; brothers, Ricky Parker and Mike Parker; his sisters-in-law, Laverne Parker and Sue Parker; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles Douglas “Red” Parker; a grandson, Leland Jeffries; and brothers, Woody Parker, Fleming Parker and Donald Parker.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Charles will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kurt Ward and Rev. Robert Jarrell with the burial to follow at Martin’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12PM to 1:45PM Saturday at the funeral home with a reception and other times at the residence.
