Charles Hill

Gibsonville, NC Charles Edwin Eb Hill, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Grace Massey Hill. Eb was the son of the late Raymond Lewis Hill and Dorothy Mitchell Hill. Eb retired from P. Lorillard in 1989 after 35 years of service and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elon and a member of the Disciples Sunday School Class. He also served in the past as a deacon and in various other offices in the church. Eb served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War and he was active in the AIA Seniors Group in Gibsonville. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Eb was a Christian gentleman who encouraged those he met with a kind word, wonderful sense of humor and his gentle spirit. He is survived by his wife, Grace Massey Hill of the home; daughters, Dr. Lisa Hill Cooke and her husband, Dr. Raymond Cook of Gibsonville and Leslie Hill Horn and her husband, Duane of Burlington; grandchildren, Ashley Cooke Graves and her husband, Christian of Burlington, Lindsay Brooke Hopson and Cody Aaron Horn both of Burlington; sister, Jean H. Meeks and her husband, Bill of Elon. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Billie Maxine Hill Davis and Martha H. Warren. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elon by Rev. Mark Mofield and Rev. Dale Brooks and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with military honors provided by the US Navy. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 pm on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
