Charles Bookout

Mr. Charles Marion "Sam" Bookout, age 82, of Burlington, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Lloyd Cottel Bookout and the late Iantha Hill Bookout. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith. Sam retired from Glen Raven Mills after many years of service.
Mr. Bookout is survived by his two daughters, Wendy Bookout Winn and her husband, Todd, and Angie Bookout, all of Burlington; two grandchildren, Tabatha Whitesell and Brandon Childers; four great grandchildren, Makenzie, Ashton and Ava Whitesell and Aiden Childers; a niece, Cathy Matherly; nephew, Chuck James; and his longtime companion, Tina Rainey. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Penny Bookout; a granddaughter, Charissy Hodge; and his sister, Margaret Bookout James.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:45 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the daughter, Wendy's home located at 321 Highland Ave., Burlington.
