Charles Fred Barber, 83, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Hospice Home. He was married to Rebecca "Becky" Lowe Barber for 54 years. He was born May 7, 1929 in Alamance County to the late Charlie Howard and Violet Wrenn Barber. Fred had worked for Glen Raven Mills for twenty-six years and retired from E.C. I.I. after twenty-two years of service. He served in The U.S. Air Force and was a lifelong member of Fairview United Methodist Church and attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of the home, daughters, Cheryl Lynn Barber of the home, Sheila Terry Mulkey of Salisbury, a grandson Tyler Mulkey of Salisbury, a step grandson Eric Kristin Mulkey of Salisbury, step great grandchildren, Chandler and Brayden. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Barber Faucette of Burlington, Frances Barber Tom Tomerlin of Gibsonville, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law L.H. Faucette, Jr. The funeral will be 4:00 PM Sunday in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tommy Privette and the Rev. Ed Privette. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
