Chad Seger

Chad Ryan Seger, 27, of Asheville, passed away suddenly on October 20, 2020 as a result of a hiking accident. He was born on August 25, 1993 in Newark, DE to Royce Lee Seger and Karen Seger, and was raised in and around Alamance County.

After graduating from Western Alamance High School in 2011, he joined the United States Marine Corps and was a CBRN Defense Specialist for 4 years before being honorably discharged, attaining the rank of sergeant. He and his wife, Lori, moved to Asheville so he could pursue a degree in Environmental Studies at the University of North Carolina Asheville. He enjoyed getting outdoors and activities like hiking, running, climbing, and kayaking. He was passionate about conservation and sustainability and was always looking for ways to live those passions out in his life.

Chad is survived by his wife, Lori Rogers Seger; his father, Royce Lee Seger, and his mother Karen Seger; his maternal grandmother, Bessie W. Bell; his twin sister, Chelsea Seger; his younger sister, Bethany Brody (Isaiah Brody); his younger brother, Nathen Seger; and 3 nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at St. Mark’s Church in Burlington, NC. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at St. Mark’s Church, and a graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, NC. Flowers may be sent to St. Mark’s Church in Burlington, NC.
