Cathy McRae

Florida – Cathy Lorene Walker McRae, age 60, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital after a sudden auto accident while traveling home.

She was born in Alamance County on November 15, 1961 to Ingram Lawson and the late Nancy Lorene Wigington Walker.  She loved going to the beach and searching for seashells.  Cathy was a loving and free-spirited individual that was well loved by all.  She was a faithful wife, loving mother, a grateful grandmother called “Gigi”, and a special sister and friend to all.  Cathy was always the life of the party.  She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Cathy McRae is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert Shannon McRae of Port St. Lucie, Florida; children: Andrew Shannon McRae and wife, Amanda of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Ashley Lorene Gordon and husband, Keith of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren: Harper Lorene Gordon and Jaxon Ryan Gordon; sisters: Vickie Walker Marley and husband, Tommy, Renee Skenes Stewart and husband, Mike, and Wendy Dasher and husband, Deron; brother, Ricky Lawson Walker and wife, Jeanette; sister-in-law, Debra Lynn McRae Morgan and husband, Chris; brother-in-law, Stephen Scott McRae and wife, Cherie; special friend, Robert Andrew Storer and wife, Melissa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as a plethora of friends.

She was preceded in death by William “Bill” Howard Skenes and Nancy Lorene Skenes.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at True Light Baptist Church, 500 Second Street, Gibsonville, NC at 2:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Tommy Marley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any animal shelter of your choice in memory of her.
