Catherine Allen Rhodes, 95, entered the loving presence of the Lord on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Liberty Commons surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Robeson County to the late Roy and Flowers Walters Allen and was married to the late Wayne Rhodes. She worked with her husband for 20 years at Wayne Rhodes Jeweler. She was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church, the Windows Sunday School Class and the Widows Support Group. Family and friends were her passion and the delight of her life. Mrs. Rhodes loved working in her flower garden and making quilts, sewing each stitch with love. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Cathy (Charles) Collier, beloved granddaughter, Amy Catherine Collier; precious great grandchildren, Caden, Kylie and Kitana, each of whom were the joy of her life; sister, Winsome (Homer) Smith and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Etta Leggett and brothers, Elliot, Sam, Albert and Horace Allen.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Grove Park Baptist Church by Rev. David Morton. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 10:45 prior to the service at the church.
The family wishes to thank all of the nurses and caregivers at Alamance House, Hospice of Alamance-Caswell and Liberty Commons who cared for Mrs. Rhodes during her illness. Special thanks goes to Karen and Brandy with Hospice and Tracey, Mary, Sonnette, Neil, Jennifer, Brandy, Laura and Shea with Alamance House whom she dearly loved just like family.
