Catherine Jernigan

Burlington, NC Catherine Perkins Jernigan, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 17, 2008. She was a native of Florence, S.C. and the wife of 61 years to Leroy D. Jernigan who survives. Catherine was a homemaker and member of Grove Park Baptist Church. She was a member and teacher of the Seekers Sunday School class for many years. Catherine was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the Good Samaritan Soup Kitchen. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her husband of the home; daughter, Cynthia J. Brande of Burlington; sons, Carroll Leroy Jernigan of Pfafftown and Donald E. Jernigan of Burlington; grandson, Joseph Clay Drye and two great granddaughters; brothers, Borey Perkins and Cecil Perkins both of Florence, S.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Cora Perkins; brothers, Newton and Raferd Perkins. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Gene Hunsinger and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Jernigan will be available for viewing after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Grove Park Baptist Church, 108 Trail One, Burlington, NC 27215.
