Carson Ira Dabbs, 74, of 137 Forest Dr. passed away Tuesday May 1, 2007 at his home following several years of failing health. He was the husband of Amanda Faye Smith Dabbs and the son of th elate Ira Herschel and Katie Mildred Brown Dabbs. Carson retired from A.T.& T. after thirty-six years of service and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was known as The Bubble Gum Man. He was also a lifetime member of N.R.A. and had served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.. Survivors include his wife of the home, sons, Michael Dabbs and his wife Jane of Altamahaw, Mark Dabbs and his wife Bonny of Burlington, grandchildren, Amanda Cook and her husband Kevin, Michael MJ Dabbs and his wife Stephanie, great grandchildren, Briana Cook, Kailyn Cook and Hailey Lynn Dabbs. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Barbara Inez Evans. The funeral will be held 1:00 PM Friday at Tabernacle Baptist Church by Rev. Norman Fargis. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home.
