Burlington, NC Carolyn Lewis Starnes, age 73 went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at her home. She was a native of Alamance County. Carolyn retired after working in textiles for many years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Ready Dorcas Sunday School Class. Carolyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Brown of Snow Camp; sons, Mark Cook and wife, Sherry of Graham, Joseph Cook and wife, Renee of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Robert Cook and Giddings, Texas; six grandsons, Brian Tari Wilson, Craig Cook, Ryan Chelsea Cook, Cody Cook, Michael Cook and Caleb Cook and one great granddaughter, Addison Cook; sister, Barbara Thompson of Burlington and brothers, David Lewis and wife, Marie of Burlington and H.A. Lewis Jr. and wife, Linda of Graham. She was preceded in death by husband, Melton Hoyt Starnes and her former husband, Willie Joe Cook; parents, Henry Arthur Lewis, Sr. and Zelma Elizabeth Wiggins Lewis; sister, Gail Tolar and a brother, Ervin Bud Lewis. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ernest Beck and the burial will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 pm on Sunday prior to the services at the funeral home.
