Carolyn Davenport

Helen Carolyn Dalton Davenport, 87, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Moses Cone-Green Valley Hospital from complications with COVID-19.  She was born in Guilford County to the late James Franklin Dalton, Sr. and Mabel Ann Lowe Vanzant, and was married to the late Jack Douglas Davenport, Sr. who died in 1990.

Carolyn retired after 35 years with Carolina Biological.  She was a member of Brightwood Christian Church, she enjoyed playing cards, shopping and socializing with her friends; and mostly loved spending time with her great grandchildren whom she adored.

She is survived by her sons, Jack Douglas Davenport, Jr. and wife Lottie and Scott Wendall Davenport; grandchildren, Destiny Akers, Brandi Vazquez, Kellie Frey, Dalton Davenport, Colton Davenport, Josh Moore and Justin Moore, and 11 great grandchildren.  Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Janet Darlene Davenport; daughter-in-law, Lisa King Davenport and a brother, James Franklin Dalton, Jr.

The funeral service will be held 11:00am Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Brightwood Christian Church by Rev. Ricky Cox and Rev. Larry Andrews with the burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 10:45am prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
