Carolyn Steele Barnette

Carolyn retired from Burlington Industries after over 40 years. She was  a 1957 gradaute of Elon High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elon and a member of the Celestial Sunday School Class. She was a member of the church choir for many years. Carolyn enjoyed traveling to the beach, watching ACC Basketball, family feud. shopping on QVC and cross stitching. She loved her neighbors and spent many happy hours sitting her porch. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Chip Barnette and wife Kristine; granddaughters whom she adored, Ellie and Vivienne; nieces, Tracy Pitts, Faith Barnes and Tina Cates and a nephew, Michael Thompson. brother, Jerry R. Steele; and sisters, Linda Thompson and Judy (Rick) Barnes. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, parents and nieces, Mandy Gray and Kelly Steele.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, February 8, 2023at Magnolia Cemetery by Rev. David Durham. The family will receive friends following the service. The public can view and pay their respects on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory from 12:00pm to 5:00pm and other times at the home of her son, 109 Bolivia Court, Whitsett, NC 27377.
