Carole Gagliano

Carole Janice Hudson Gagliano, 79, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016 after battling Parkinsons disease for 30 years. Carole was born November 24, 1936 in Jermyn, PA to the late Albert Martin Hudson and Jeanne Louise Morgan Hudson. After graduation Carole moved to Philadelphia and later New York City, working as a telephone operator, in television, and as the account manager for Pepsi-Cola with Kenyon & Eckhardt advertising agency. She also graduated from the John Robert Powers modeling school. It was while living in New York that Carole met a naval officer named Sam at the Newport Jazz Festival and they began their life together. Sam and Carole spent 31 years actively serving their country in the Navy. A true patriot, Carole always said yes when the Navy needed them. She was the familys anchor, seeing them safely through 18 moves with grace and strength. Caroles mantra was Home is where your family is. Carole was one of the founders of a boutique in the Philippines that raised enough money to add a new wing to the hospital. She also spent many years as a volunteer for the Navy Relief Fund, an organization dedicated to supporting military personnel and their families in times of need. Carole is survived by her husband of 54 years, Sam Joseph Gagliano; daughter, Elizabeth Louise Voorhees and her daughters Hannah and Emma Voorhees of Durham; daughter, Laura Josephine Hargrove and husband Doug and their children Turner and Sarah Hargrove of Graham; son, Joseph Albert Gagliano and wife Stephanie of Arlington, VA; and her brother, Richard Hudson of Greenfield Township, PA. Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Jeanne and Albert Hudson. Visitation will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church (1620 Hanford Road in Graham) on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am by Father Briant Cullianane. There will be no graveside service. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Caroles family requested contributions be made to the Blessed Sacrament Building Fund at 710 Koury Drive, Burlington, NC 27215 or the Michael J. Fox Foundation at P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014. Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Gagliano family.
