Carol Clapp

Mrs. Carol Ann Merkle Clapp went home to the Lord early in the morning on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Carol had lived in her beloved adopted state of North Carolina for several decades. She was a member of Cobles Lutheran Church and the Friends and Neighbors Group at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going new places, playing board and card games, eating good food, and celebrating any holiday that called for a family gathering. Carol is survived by her husband of over 41 years, David C. Clapp; her daughters, Joyce Clapp and wife, Leonette Griffin, Hope Barden and husband, John, and Faith Clapp; her brother, Gerald Merkle and wife, Debbie; her two sisters, Donna Button and husband, Richard, and their family and sister, Paula Burke and her family; in addition to a loving extended and chosen family and her fellow church members. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Adeline Merkle and her brother, Theodore Merkle. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Cobles Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 6 8 PM Friday evening at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice & Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, Cobles Lutheran Church, or the charity of your choice.
