Carla Sue Hunt Schenker, 71, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at her home. She was born on May 25, 1944 in Norwich, NY to the late Francis Bauer an Arthur Hunt. Frances was a mill worker and Arthur Hunt was a carpenter. Dave Bauer, who worked for Victory Markets in Norwich, NY, was Carlas beloved step father since she was 5 years old. Frances and Dave were lifelong Norwich residents. Carla was the wife of 45 years to Carl Schenker with whom she spent the most beautiful years of her life. She lived with Carl and her family in Nashua, NH, Burke, VA, San Diego, CA, Freedom NH and Burlington, NC. While she lived in Burke VA she started a Ladies Club and Welcome Wagon which is still in operation. She was also a member of the international Lilac Society. Carla's passion in life was her family, children and grandchild. She also had a passion for genealogy and learned a great deal to pass on to her family. She was an avid bridge player and was a lovely flower arranger and decorator. She was well known for her baking and cooking. She is survived by her husband, Carl; daughter, Julie Dreelin, Julie's husband Eric, and her grandson Fletcher Dreelin of Kitty Hawk, NC; and a son, David Schenker, also of Kitty Hawk, NC. Fletcher, the grandson, was the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, step-father who raised her and her twin sister, Carole Silva. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held 1:00pm, Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Paul Lininger, OFM Conv. A visitation with a reception provided by the family will follow the service at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Foundation of Greater Greensboro 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405 God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you, and whispered come to me. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands now at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best!
