Mr. Carl Calvin Stephenson, 85, of Pageland, SC died Saturday, September 26, 2009 in Efland, NC after a brief illness. He was born on June 7, 1924 in Buffalo, OH to George Kempton and Mirtie Newman Stephenson. Carl was married to Donna Lee Saultz, his childhood sweetheart for 61 years. A graduate of Buffalo High School and Cambridge Business College, he served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. The majority of his career was in the accounting field working for both private accounting firms and the John Deere Corporation. He was co-owner of C&D Oil Company in Cambridge, OH. After retirement, the family moved to Pageland, SC in 1979. Mr. Stephenson was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church in Buffalo, OH and later Zion United Methodist Church in Pageland, SC. He held a variety of positions in both churches including Sunday school teacher. He was a Cub Scout leader and a Mason. He is survived by his wife Donna, two sons, James F. Stephenson Deborah of Efland, NC and Jeffrey D. Stephenson of Bluffton, SC, two grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a sister, Della Brown of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his eldest son Carl C. Stephenson and his wife Kimberly Jo of Cambridge, OH, a sister Sarah Girdeline Girtie Tedrick of Titusville, FL, brothers Daniel Leroy, Buffalo, OH, Russel Blain, Buffalo, OH, Allan Boyd, West Lafayette, OH, Hobart Carman, Akron, OH, Erma Wilford, Cleveland, OH, Ernest David, Port Washington, OH, Edward Guy, Buffalo, OH and George Forest, Buffalo, OH. South Carolina Services: Friends may call on Monday, September 28, 2009 from 6 - 8 PM at Sutton Baumgartner Funeral Home in Pageland, SC. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 11 AM at Zion United Methodist Church also in Pageland, SC. Ohio Services: Friends may call on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 6 8 PM at Black Funeral Home in Byesville, OH. Graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Buffalo Cemetery in Buffalo, OH In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Mount. Zion Christian Church, 3210 Mt. Zion Church Road, Mebane, NC 27302
