Whitsett – Carl Dean Andrews, Sr., 78, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 8, 2021.
He was born in Alamance County on November 18, 1942 to the late Bruce and Mary Magdalene Lowe Andrews and was the husband of 34 years to Martha Elizabeth Harrison Andrews of the home.
Carl served in the U.S. Army as a marksman in the 6th Battalion 60th Artillery division where he received his national defense service medal. He then went to work as a manager in the textile mills. He loved sports, growing up he enjoyed playing competitive basketball with his brothers and then later in life loved watching his grandson D.J. play baseball. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and amateur putt-putt state champion. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be truly missed by all who loved him.
Survivors other than his wife, include his son, Carl D. Andrews, Jr. (Keri); daughter, Dedee Beverage (Ted) ; stepdaughters, Tammy Flinchum (Donnie) and Tina Peoples (Chris) ; stepson, Tony Warren, Jr. (Sheila); nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and four siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
A funeral to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 on Monday, October 11, 2021 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Martin Harrison with the burial to follow at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:45 prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project or to the Randolph Hospice House.
