Calvin Thompson, Sr.

Mr. Calvin Clayton Thompson, Sr. , 82, passed away Thursday, November 06, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Mr. Thompson was born April 1, 1926 in Alamance County to the late Minter and Edna C. Thompson. Calvin worked many years for Kayser Roth and Holt Hosiery Mill until his retirement. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church, was a U.S. Army veteran, and a proud member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Margaret Noah Thompson of the home; a son, Calvin "Clay" Thompson, Jr. and his wife Enetta of Snow Camp; a daughter, Dorothy Lyn Thompson of Snow Camp; granddaughter, Stacey Thompson of Burlington; a brothers, Harold Lee Thompson of Liberty, and Burnice Thompson of Graham; a sister-in-law, Louise Thompson of Liberty. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Herbert J. Thompson, and R. A. Thompson; and a sister, Pauline Thompson. A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Alamance Memorial Park with the Rev. Howard Spray officiating. The family will receive friends 1:00- 2:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
