Callie Inez Roney Mitchell

Elon – Callie Inez Roney Mitchell, 95, loving wife and mama, took her reserved flight on Friday, April 8, 2022 and is celebrating with her Heavenly Father, her Savior and Lord Jesus and her family and friends who had gone before her.

Inez was born in Alamance County, was a daughter of George Elwood and Callie Lineberry Roney. Married at the age of 20 she was the wife for 63 years to James Franklin Mitchel who took his flight, also on April 8, in 2009. 

     Inez put her heart and soul into being a homemaker and taking care of her husband, her children and family.  After her children grew up, her plants and flowers become her favorite pastime, including growing her own German Johnson tomatoes to go with her all-time favorite pimento cheese sandwiches.  She also enjoyed to sew, crochet and other crafts throughout the years

     She is survived by her children; Martha McKinney (Darrell), Kathy Presson, Bobby Mitchell (Vicki), Donnie Mitchell (Bonnie) and Randy Mitchell, grandchildren; Tina Buck (John), Matthew McKinney (Carlie), Amy Cox (Ricky), Derek Mitchell (Shannon), Dana Culberson (John), Tammy Garner Terry and James Kendall Garner (Wendy), numerous great and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews including a special niece; Edith Mitchell.  She was preceded in death by her husband; James F. Mitchell, children; Becky Garner, Timmy Mitchell and two children of miscarriages, her parents; George and Callie Roney, siblings; Amos, Mary, Ruth, Elwood and Ruby and a son-in-law; Jon Presson.  

     The Graveside service will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, April 15, 2022 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Tommy Marley and Rev, Darrell Massey.
