Burlington, NC - C. Mark Averette, 56, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 10, 2017 surrounded by his family and friends. A native of Alamance County, he was born March 15, 1961 to the late Clifton Gentry and Shirley Ann Huff Averette and was the husband of 27 years to Kim Suzanne Averette of the home.
Mark was a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He exhibited humility and truly had a servant's heart. Mark was also a former member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church and Bethel Baptist Church. He worked as a Civil Engineer with the City of Burlington for over 14 years and more recently with Alley, Williams, Carmen and King Engineering Firm since 1998. He was formerly a volunteer fireman for the Gibsonville,Clemmons and Swepsonville Fire Departments.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Suzanne Averette of the home; daughters, Lauren Diane A. Marshall and husband, Josiah of Chapel Hill, Kaitlyn Michelle Averette of Durham; sister, Rebecca Ann A. Davis and husband, Todd of Charlotte and a brother, Paul K. Averette and wife, Sharon of Huntersville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00am on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Grinnell with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
