Brenda Powell

Zebulon Brenda Faye Byrd Powell, 57, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham after three years of failing health. She was born in Alamance County to the late Robert Daniel Byrd and Chattie Price Byrd who survives. She was the wife of seven years to William Segrist "Bill" Powell who survives. Brenda was a music teacher with the Franklin County School System and was the choir director at Avent Ferry United Methodist Church in Raleigh. She was a former member of The Raleigh Ringers Bell Choir. Survivors other than her husband, Bill of the home and her mother, Chattie Byrd, include her sister, Lynette Byrd Harris; nephew, Nicholas Reynolds; niece, Charlotte Reynolds all of Burlington; step children, Lindsey Powell and husband Joe Anderson, Elisabeth Powell all of Raleigh and Mary Kate Powell of the home. The memorial service will be held 3:00pm Sunday, October 20, 2013 at The Zebulon United Methodist Church by Rev. Tom Hollis, the family will receive friends following the service. The graveside service will be held 11:00AM Monday, October 21 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Randy Orwig. The family will receive friends following the service.
