It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Gregory Martin, 67, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, after two months of declining health. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends at Moses Cone Hospital. Born on December 19, 1957, in Roanoke County, Virginia, Brenda was the cherished daughter of the late Julian Davis Gregory and Ruby Olena Lilly Gregory, who survives her.
Brenda's life was filled with love and dedication, notably as the wife of the late David O’Neil Martin, who preceded her in death in 2009. A proud graduate of Western Alamance High School in 1976, she furthered her education at Alamance Community College and after a dedicated career she retired from Impact Fulfillment Services, Inc.
Brenda was a woman of many passions. She held her family dear, often embarking on yearly adventures with her nephew, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever. She had a special fondness for Christmas shopping with her family, delighting in finding the perfect gifts for her loved ones. Her love for music, especially Elvis, might have filled her home with warmth, while her creativity shone through in her beautiful stained-glass creations, knitting, and joyful travels to the beach.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, as she dedicated countless hours to Burlington Christian Church. There, she taught Sunday School, nurtured children in the nursery, and time with her beloved church family, always sharing her love for Jesus with those around her. A true testament to her generous spirit, Brenda was a 20-year cancer survivor, offering encouragement and hope to others through her personal journey.
Brenda’s loving spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her loving mother, Ruby Lilly Gregory, she is survived by her devoted sister, Sandy Capps, and her husband David. Her special nephews, Davis Faucette and his wife Calli, Alex Faucette, and Kevin Capps, held a significant place in her heart. Brenda was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her great-niece, Peyton Faucette, in July—a joy she cherished deeply. Brenda joins her father, Julian Davis Gregory, and her husband, David O’Neil Martin, in eternal peace.
In honor of her vibrant life, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Burlington Christian Church, by Steve Dailey and Pastor Brian Murphy. The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the service from 11:30am to 12:45pm and warmly welcomes friends and family to join them following the service for fellowship.
