Mrs. Brenda Smithey Farris, 76, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
Brenda was born April 25, 1947 in Alamance County to Jack and Ruby Smithey. She worked as a folder in the textile industry for many years. She loved to listen to country and gospel music, especially her favorites Mike English and The Gaithers. For fun, she played games on her computer and enjoyed crocheting. She deeply loved her dogs. They were her heart and soul. In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Farris, sister, Dianne Bare, nephew, Joey Bare, and her dogs, Jack and Susie.
Brenda is survived by her son, Daniel “Wayne” Shelton (Karen); stepdaughter, Amy Farris Beck; step grandchildren, Ashley Boggs and husband Graham, Savannah Beck, and Adalynn Beck; step great-grandchildren, Liam O’Neill, Grayson Burns, Benjamin Beck, and Felicity Beck; sister, Rebecca “Beckie” Apple; and brothers, William Jack “Buddy” Smithey and wife Evelyn and Butch Smithey; nieces and nephews, Angie Coley, Sherri Hancock, Julie Warrick, Susan Smithey, Ernest “Smokey” Bare (Samantha), Lori Coble, Jennifer Foust, Kristin Smithey, Jamie Edmonds, Benjamin Apple, and Ethan Apple; and her beloved canine companion, Bella.
A funeral service for Brenda will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11 AM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 9:45 – 10:45 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at all other times at the homes of the siblings and nephew.
The family would like to thank the staff at AuthoraCare Hospice Home for their loving care and attention during the past few weeks of Brenda’s illness. Her son would also like to extend a special thanks to Smokey, Samantha, Rebecca, and Butch for their friendship and care.
