Brenda Akers

Brenda Joyce Jones Akers, 69, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at her home. She was born in Tazewell County, VA to the late Walter Freeman Jones and Mary Louetta Andrews Jones and was the wife to Charles Randolph "Randy" Akers of 46 years who survives.

Brenda retired with the Roanoke County School System after 34 years of teaching school. She was a past Worthy Matron of Hillcrest Chapter #159 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Tazewell Baptist Church and she attended Peoples Memorial Christian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed.

Survivors, other than her husband Randy, include her sons, Jeff Akers and wife, Alina, Kelly Akers, Jason Akers and wife, Lisha; daughter, Jenny Fraley and husband, Carlton; grandchildren, Mack Ford, Declan Ford and Fiona Fraley; brother, Conley Jones and wife, Debbie; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Stevie Jones.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm Friday, April 22, 2016 at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.

A memorial service will be held 3:00pm Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Oakey's East Chapel in Roanoke, VA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00pm to 2:45pm at the funeral home.
