Burlington

Bonnie Lynn Cooper, born on July 1, 1952, in Alamance County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of the late Elwood and Lucille Cooper also of Alamance County.

Bonnie lived a life filled with passion and service. As a young girl, she was a spirited tomboy, excelling especially at barrel races in local horse shows, bringing immense pride to her daddy. Her zest for life, quick wit, and try-anything attitude made her the heart of any gathering.

Bonnie's dedication to helping others shone brightly throughout her life. She served as an EMT, was a steadfast supporter of the Cherry Grove Volunteer Fire Department, and pursued her passion for healthcare by earning a bachelor's degree in nursing. She dedicated the majority of her professional career to the Emergency Room at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, North Carolina, and later retired from Morehead Memorial in Eden. Even in retirement, her compassionate spirit led her back to Alamance Regional Hospital, where she volunteered, finding joy in camaraderie and assisting patients and their families.

Bonnie's love for music was a lifelong companion, and she eagerly anticipated bluegrass shows at Camp Springs. She found solace and beauty in long drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway and cherished her frequent trips to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she spent precious time with her daughter and adored granddaughters.

Bonnie is survived by her loving daughter, Brandi Rainey, and her cherished granddaughters, Zoe and Willa, all of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is also survived by her sisters, Connie Smith and Cheryl Massey, and their families, as well as her stepsons, stepdaughter, and step-grandchildren from her long and happy marriage to Kenneth Hawkins Jr., now deceased.

Bonnie will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her tender heart, her unwavering dedication to nursing, and her deep love for her family.

Private memorial services will be held by the family at a later time.
