Gibsonville - Bobby Lee Summers, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 26, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Guilford County on May 20, 1932 to the late Rufus Wallace Summers and Addie Belle Pugh Summers and was the husband of 65 years to his sweetheart of whom he met in Pensacola, FL, Peggy Jane Burdette Summers of the home.

Bobby was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War and attended Gibsonville United Methodist Church. He graduated from Walter M. Williams High School and later attended Burlington Business College where he secured an accounting degree. He worked for Norfolk-Southern Railroad for 35 years where he once manned the (now secure and refurbished) caboose in downtown Gibsonville and Liberty. He was also the owner/operator of Bobby's Hobbies and Bobby's World of Trains. The model train setup in downtown Gibsonville was built and ran by Bobby on the weekends during town events. In 2010, Bobby received the "Man of the Year Hall of Fame Award" from the Gibsonville Merchants Association. Bobby enjoyed playing golf with the Alamance Seniors and Sand Hill Seniors, although most of his free time was spent at The Barn Dance in Julian on Saturday nights with his friends, who are better known as family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy of the home; daughter, Pat Poe Norton of Graham, Kathy Powell Guy of Morehead City and Cindy Phillips Tiralosi and husband Mark of Heathrow, FL; grandchildren, Stephanie Leigh Poole and husband Keith, Matthew Dean Phillips, Tyler Drake Guy, Alison Poe Gordon and husband Robert, Tiffany Dawn Phillips, Travis Sumner Guy, Matthew Tiralosi and Megan Tiralosi; great grandchildren, Mason Gordon, Conner Gordon, Braedon Poole and Ada Marley; sister, Betty Isley and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jeff Norton; great granddaughter, Hanna Gordon and sons-in-law, Dean Norton and Tony Guy.

A service to celebrate Bobby's life will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Todd Martin with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
In honor of Bobby, the family requests that attire for the funeral be casual or jeans.
