Bobby Donald Stewart

Bobby Donald Stewart, 86 years old, was ushered by the Lord to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 15, 2023.  He was a native of Burlington, NC and the son of the late Charles Norman Stewart and Mary Louise Prosser Stewart.  He was a devoted husband of 65 years to Carolyn Blackwelder Stewart. 

Bobby worked for the City of Greensboro for 34 years retiring as the Information Systems Director.  He served in the United States Army 1954 to 1957.  He was a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church in Graham for over 60 years teaching Sunday School and serving as a deacon.  He was a former member of the Board of Directors at Alamance Christian School serving as Chairman for a number of years.  During his retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling across the US, and spending time in Myrtle Beach and Florida.  He loved golfing, yard work, and reading in the sun, but especially valued time with family and friends.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Carolyn Blackwelder Stewart, his son Charles Michael Stewart, and wife Cathy of Orlando, FL; daughter, Sandra Leigh Stewart of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Martha Stewart Benfield of Salisbury; grandchildren Shana Stewart Wall, and husband Aaron of Elon, and Kara Stewart Karns, and husband Gabe of Columbus, OH; great grandchildren, Sean Wall, Corey Wall, Jasper Wall, Raelyn Karns, and Vera Karns; sister-in-law, Brenda Stewart of Mebane.  He is proceeded in death by his son, Robert Allen Stewart: parents; and brothers; James “Butch” Stewart, Harold “Skinny” Stewart, and Bill Stewart.

The family would like to especially thank the staff at Always Best Care Senior Services and Authoracare Hospice Home in Burlington for their excellent care and compassion. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 2:00pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Brandon Rouse. The burial will follow with military honors at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
