Bobby Davis

Bobby Lee Davis, 58, of 1107 W. Old Glencoe Rd. passed away Friday, August 3, 2007 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several months of failing health. He was born in Alamance County and was the son of Ruby Williams Davis and the late Willie B. Davis, Sr. Bobby was the husband of Marie Smith Davis, who survives. He retired as a Staff Sergeant with the Burlington Police Department after 29 years of service where he enjoyed training new officers and headed the Burlington Police Explorers for several years. Bobby was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Service Stars. He attended Burlington Assembly of God Church, was a member of the Burlington Police Club and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his wife, Marie S. Davis of the home; son, Bobby Lee Davis, Jr. and his wife Jackie Beckom Davis and their son, Joseph Cole Davis, all of Burlington; son, Chad Ryan Davis and his wife Angie Swanger Davis and their daughter, Morgan Rachel Davis, all of Mebane; son, Darron Keith Davis and his wife Leigh DeJarnette Davis and their daughter, Faith Noelle Davis, all of Burlington; mother, Ruby Williams Davis of Burlington; sisters, Bonnie Davis Tate and her husband Bobby Cook Tate of Prospect Hill; Lettie Davis Coble and her husband Wayne Harden Coble of Burlington and a brother, Willie B. Davis, Jr. and his wife Joan Clayton Davis of Mebane. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Burlington Assembly of God with Pastor Howard Thompson and Rev. Craig Willingham officiating. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with honors provided by the Honor Guards of the Burlington Police Department and the Alamance County Sheriffs Office. The family will receive friends from 5-8 Sunday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the Burlington Police Explorers 267 W.
