Bobby Beck

Burlington, NC Bobby Gene Beck, age 80, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Alamance Health Care surrounded by his family. He was a native of Durham County and the husband of 62 years to Nancy Bass Beck who survives. Bobby retired after 28 years as assistant vice president of Glen Raven Mills. He was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and co-teacher of the Reliable Sunday School class. He had also served as a deacon and member of the choir at Grove Park Baptist Church. Bobby served his country in the US Army National Guard and attended Duke University and was a member of the Iron Dukes. Bobby volunteered with Alamance Elder Care and was an avid golfer. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife of the home; sons, William Coy Beck, II and his wife, Debra of Richmond, Virginia and Michael David Beck and his wife, Tammy of Burlington; grandchildren, Jodi Pagonis of Snow Camp, Melissa Beck of Richmond, Virginia, Hillary Beck of Phoenix, Arizona, Jeffrey M. Beck of Greensboro, NC,, Seth Thomas of Memphis, Tennessee and Isaac Thomas of Tuscon, Arizona; great granddaughters, Victoria Pagonis of Snow Camp and Isabella Grey Aspero of Richmond, Virginia . He was preceded in death by his parents, William Coy Beck and Lillian Watson Beck Carroll; step father, James Thomas Carroll; half sister, Deborah Carroll Hayes. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Gene Hunsinger and assisted by Rev. Bill Vickrey. The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
