Mrs. Bobbie Earline Hanks Gregoris, age 87, of Burlington, went to meet her Heavenly Father on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several weeks of failing health.
Bobbie was born in Simpsonville, SC to the late Bill Hanks and the late Pearl Thompson Hanks and was also preceded in death by her late ex-husband, Nicholas N. Gregoris. She later resided in Columbia, SC, Chapel Hill, Mebane, Graham and for the last 25 years she lived in Burlington. She was blessed with many talents and in high school she was a Regional Basketball MVP. Bobbie was a veteran of the Korean War and earned the rank of Corporal in the U.S. Army where she worked for the Provost Marshall. She left military service to become a loving wife and mother and later years a grandmother and great grandmother. She was a champion bowler and bowling instructor, earning numerous awards and trophies and was elected as the NC Women’s Bowling Association President and also over the years held a variety of offices. In the 80’s, she was active in women’s softball on the local church teams and in the 90’s she participated in Country Line Dancing and was active for over 20 years, including becoming an instructor.
Bobbie was dearly loved by her cousin and friends in South Carolina and Florida. Her circle of friends from her church, Macedonia Lutheran Church, and local dance groups were loved and very important to her. Bobbie will always be loved and remembered by those she touched along the way.
Bobbie was survived by her children, her loving son, Mike, Tina, Toni and Nicky, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, parents and a brother, Billy Hanks.
A memorial service to celebrate Bobbie’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Richard Goeres. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
A special thanks to all of Bobbie’s friends and neighbors who helped watch over her during the last months of her life. The care provided from ARMC, Moses Cone Hospital, Home Health Care and other providers was greatly appreciated as well.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church c/o the Memorial Fund or the Hunger Fund at 421 W. Front St., Burlington, NC 27215.
